I've been using CDex for about a week now on XP Home with the adaptec
ASPI drivers installed (and later the latest LAME_enc.dll file). No blue
screens, only lots of good mp3 rips on cds I didn't think were very
readable anymore.

Cheers,

Ari

The lame dll comes in the download, I just updated it for the heck of it
after reading some stuff online. The aspi drivers are something I
installed earlier for another purpose, but apparently cdex uses them,
too. What error is given with the blue screen?

I've used CDex on a Win98SE machine for some time with no problems.
Worked right out of the box and has continued to do so every time I
update it.

Something on your machine is causing a conflict with it. You might run
some spyware software (like AdAware) and make sure everything is shut
down before you try to install CDex. Maybe aspicheck would help you find
problems, although I'd think the program would still install okay, just
not run, if the problem was with your aspi layer.

You can get aspicheck here, along with a lot of other helpful stuff.
