Looking for 2 pieces of software opr at least your recommendations

1) I have anumber of mp3s spread over my hard drive and a number of CD's
burned (slap my wrist) randomly over the past couple of years. Anyone
recommend software to help me organise these files. Preferably ability to
look for similar files in respect of title and/or size

2) Not concerned with mp3s but worth an ask - I have loads of CD's which I
want to catalogue. Any recommendations? MUST have cddb or similar. I seem
to remember trying apiece of software which simply read the disks then went
off and checked them all against cddb when you wanted it to rather than
individually. But I cannot rermember what it was called.

Willing to pay reasonable amount (not loadsamoney) for them

TIA

Music Collector does this fairly well for $25 ($40 if you feel you need
to "Pro" edition). It is still a pain to get a database going if you
start from scratch and have a large CD collection but once you get them
in if you keep up with it then it can be very helpful.

MPEG Audio Collection gets my vote for the best MP3 catalog app, and as
an added bonus, it's freeware.

If you like it, drop Jurgen an email and say thanks. Software authors
that put a lot of work into writing excellent programs and offering them
for free deserve it.

Music Collector has already been mentioned by another poster; I haven't
found any freeware with comparable capabilities to it yet.

The OrangeCD suite looks promising also:

Hi Mike,

MpegWare MP3 Organizer ( http://www.mpegware.com ) is an easy-to-use MP3
organizer with very fast keyword search, sorting, indexing and random
shuffle. Ideal for managing mp3 collections on your hard drive. Drag & drop
files to MP3 players and CD-writer programs. Manage all your MP3s in a
Windows Explorer-style list. The database-export function allows you to view
your MP3 collection in any spreadsheet. Sort by Filename, Artist, Title,
Genre, Location, Play Length, Bitrate and more. Contains a full ID3 Tag
Editor. Supports Winamp and RealOne player.

Regards

Nicolas.
