- FLash MP3 player
- Posted by Beowulfie on February 24th, 2006
I'm looking to buy a new MP3 player and I want the best for the money(less
than 200). I'm also wanting a flash player, not wanting lots of extra just
want to listen to my podcasts without having to book time on my computer.
The ones I'm looking at are Sandisk and Creative Zen. One gig at least.
I've looked at the Ipod also but am little confused on things I've heard
about problems with mp3 files not playing or something? Will any audio file
play on an Ipod, even if you didn't get it from ITunes?
Anyway, if anyone has any recommendations on good players I'm interested in
hearing, thanks.

With similar requirements I picked up a Samsung YP-C1Z. 1GB flash, plays
most formats including MP3 and Ogg Vorbis, has an FM tuner, voice recorder,
etc., and a ridiculously long battery life - 42 hrs - that I have yet to
verify.
The UI isn't the greatest, but it seems to do a decent enough job for my
uses.

Thanks for the reply. How is the radio? That's not necessary but ok if it
is a decent receiver.
I also just saw a Toshiba 40 gb at Costco today. I'm not sure it's flash but
saw some good reviews for it. Anyone know about this player?

It's not flash, it's a Toshiba 1.8 inch hard drive with the bits stored
vertically to increase the capacity.
80 GB very soon now.

The radio seems to be decent. I'm in a bad building in Victoria, BC trying
to pick up a station on the Olympic Peninsula and it kinda works most of the
time. While I haven't tried other MP3/FM combos, a boom box has the same
problem in that location.
If you see a 40GB drive it is not likely to be flash at any reasonable
price. Haven't seen any flash over 1GB, but I also haven't looked that hard.
