Is there any way of giving Windows Media Player 9 running on Windows 98
SE exclusive use of the sound device on an Epox 8RGA+ when it is playing
MP3s or video files? On my old system I had an old Sound Blaster card
and when WMP was playing, other programs could not access the sound
card.
Now my MP3s are frequently interrupted by the new mail sound from Agent
and other sounds. I want to keep my system sounds and the new mail
sound. I just do not want to hear them when I am playing MP3s or MPGs
etc.
Is there any way I can correct this? Is there another newsgroup where
this question would be more appropriate? Would this be easier to do if
I upgraded to Windows XP? Thank you in advance for all replies.

grimey gopher guts" I imagine my cat saying; "That sounds REALLY,
REALLY good. I'll have some of that!"
