Help! Need to tag a ton of files!
Posted by Ted Appleberry on January 12th, 2007

I have a rather extensive collection of MP3 files neatly arranged by
artist\album. I am looking for a piece of software to scan all of these

and based on some sort of super intellectual algorithim based on
existing tags, directory structure of files names can then correctly
identify all of the Tag information incluiding downloading artwork and
writing everything back to the file.
I have used Musicbrainz Picard, Magic MP3 Tagger, Music Library, Music
Jukebox and Fixtunes.. Of the lot Fixtunes was the closest match but
still had some issues.. Surprisingly if both the artist and song name
were in the file but there was a typo it would have problems, also if
the song was part of a compilation disc or a Greatest Hits, it would
identify the original album the song was released on, not the name of
the compilation disc (IE Rolling Stones Greatist Hits or Cafe Del Mar)
..

The key here is automation, if I can get at least 80% of these
automtically tagged, I could probably handle the other 20% with Tag and

Rename.. Having used Tag and Rename on this collection for the past 20
hours I'm sad to report I am only 1\2 way through B!
Thank Very Much,
TA

MP3Collector from www.collectorz.com comes in handy. It worked for me!
Can be done in batch, for multiple files, by means of filename,
directory structure and also ID3 tag. Give it a try!

Regards

Jack
