- How to "join" MP3s to create a compilation.
- Posted by Mitchell199 on July 1st, 2003
I have 8 small MP3s, the individual segments of the first chapter,
from an audio book which were only available individually. Yet the
rest of the chapters of the audio book I was lucky to dl as complete
MP3 compilations.
What is best way to stitch these segments of Chapter 1 together to
have the entire chapter in one MP3 file?
Thanks.

You can wrap them together with Juke Box Decoder available free from
birdcagesoft.com. Simply change the m3u extention to mp3. Or use
mp3merge - I haven't tried that one, so I can't comment. If you'd
like directions for using Juke Box Decoder, please post back.

Jyeshta, well, I certainly ran into a brick wall in a way I had not
anticipated.
I could get around the rips having different bitrates, I can choose
lowest and downgrade to that (since it's audio books, not too much of
a problem.) What I didn't anticipate, though I was worried at the
outset, was the different ways people would rip. What I mean is that
a few were chop jobs and were truncated at the end and not very well
started at the beginning. I think that I'm going to have to trash
these and start again but looking for whole rips (though they seem
awfully hard to find). Or, keep trying different hits that come up
for the bad tracks until I get one that sounds complete.
If that happens, then I can stitch together as I had originally
inteded.
MP3 Merger seems good. I didn't bother testing it once I found that a
few of the files were bad, but it seems very easy to use and highly
intuitive (at least, at first try).
Will report back if I go this route and am successful in finding good
copies to merge and then do merge, and then merge successfully.
Thanks.
