- How to Stop MusicMatch from Adding Rips to Library
- Posted by Klaatu on October 27th, 2003
I rip a lot of CDs to transfer to my portable MP3 player. These are
just temporary and I don't want them added to my MusicMatch Library,
but I can't figure out how to tell MusicMatch 8.1 "don't automatically
add ripped tracks to library".
TIA if you can tell me how.

MMJB supports the use of multiple libraries. Go to Options/Music
Library/New Music Library & give your new library a name: perhaps
RipTemp, for example. Now rip the tracks that you don't want MMJB to
add to your main library. MMJB will add them to RipTemp, instead. When
you're finished, go to File/Open Music Library & select Default.ddf,
which is the name that MMJB gives to your main library. At this point,
you can delete RipTemp.ddf, if you wish. (I use a separate library to
catalog the lower bitrate MP3s that I reserve for playback in my
portable.)

Can't he make the proper settings in Options/ Settings/ General
tab??
There is a selection NOT to add to music library when clicking local files,
or if music files are downloaded from the internet.
