iPod Shuffle problem
Posted by Jim on May 22nd, 2008

I hope that someone in this newsgroup can help me. If I have chosen
the wrong newsgroup then please direct me to another one.

I am a seventy something and I am having a problem with IPOD Shuffle
that I bought on the 3rd of April this year in order to listen to
podcasts received on my PC.

After numerous attempts over the last seven weeks I have failed to get
it to work.

I have Windows XP with Service Pack 2.

I carried out the installation involving a download of ITunes carried
out according to the iTunes online manual. I Plugged the Shuffle into
the docking unit which I then connected it to the PC via its USB
cable.

When the iTunes screen appears it contains a list of tunes which
presumably were downloaded at the time of installation.

I waited until the little pilot light went from orange to green. I
then initiated ITunes and waited for it to synchronise.

When I turn the Shuffle on nothing comes through the earphones.

I have tried every combination of the buttons on the face of the
Shuffle that the manual describes and every other combination that I
can think of.

What I have not done so far is uninstall and reinstall ITunes. Does
anyone recommend this?

If I can’t get my Shuffle to work I will have to write it off and go
for another brand of mp3 player. I used to have a Creative V100 that
worked fairly well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does iTunes reconise the iPod?
Does anything show up in the iPod folder in the iTunes?
Have you set the iPod to synchronize or not?
Have you tried the iPod Shuffle help site?
