Question about my radio that plays Mp3's - HELP!
Posted by Bill on November 17th, 2004

I have a small boombox that plays mp3's and I have
a cdr burner in my pc (cendyne pinoeer 105 dvd
burner that also does cdr), Also have another pc
that has a 32x TDK velo burner.

I have mp3 files on my pc in a folder on my
desktop, I have used nero and prassi, and added
those mp3 files to the disc to burn them and have
them play in my radio, but no matter what I do the
discs won't play, do the files need to all be in a
row (no folders) on the disc or is there something
possibly I am doing wrong in the burn process?
(adding that main folder of mp3s as data to the
disc), or is there something maybe goofy with the
media? (the media I am using is TDK CDRs from
best buy).

I can burn vcds and data storage (jpgs word docs
etc) on this media yet every mp3 disc I have tried
to make won't work in this mp3 player radio.

Silly simple question, probably something very
simple I am not doing , just figured I would ask
vs burning more discs that dont work.

Are you *sure* the player will play MP3s? It has to have a decoder to
do so. Doesn't sound as if it does in which case you need to make
AUDIO discs from the MP3s. Doing that, you can get 80 minutes of
playing time (around 12-20 MP3s) per CD.

If it does play MP3s then all that is needed is to make a data disc
which will hold 700MB of MP3s (around 100-200). As far as whther or
not your player will handle folders, read the manual.

Data or audio, be sure to "close" (finalize) the disc.

The Radio is from Target and is a GPX Mp3
Compatible boombox model BCDM3704DT
I tried putting just mp3 format data (no folders)
as well as mp3 data in folders,
neither plays, it just doesn't even recognize the
disc.

I am using nero and prassi, and have set it as
finalize not multisession, my only other
thought is maybe it doesn't like these TDK discs,
so I might try to pick up a small pack of
verbatim or memorex or something and just see if
that fixes it...

But thanks for the reply and yeah in general I am
familiar with burning mp3 discs (for my car
player that does recognize mp3 discs) yet the only
media I have is tdk and no matter what disc
I stick in here (folders or not) it just wont see
them, so I am hoping its just a media conflict,
if not this is going back to Target soon...

I finally got it figured out, I never did get nero
working but in prassi
I was able to fiddle with the recording settings
enough to create a disc
that does play as a data mp3 disc in the boombox,
so I will just be using
prassi vs nero from now on to make discs for this
radio..
