Really Dumb MP3 question - Please Help
Posted by Young J. Putt on December 2nd, 2006

Sorry for this really dumb question. I'm a CD person, and I'm way out of
touch with MP3 downloading, and overwhelmed by what's available online. I
have a very limited need, so I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in
the right direction.

I need to download maybe 20-30 tunes, so that I can learn to play them for a
one-time Xmas party gig this Wednesday. I'm a guitarist, and what I need to
learn is not music I own, or typically listen to. I don't want a long term
subscription, to have to load any special software on my pc, or to try to
find something for free. I just want a source with a big selection, where I
can get in, pay for and download a bunch of tunes, and get out. (I'm looking
for a bunch of 50's Rock n' Roll tunes, and some Kenny Rogers, and Tom Jones
stuff.)

Can anyone recommend a good site?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Possibly a really dumb answer - would MIDI files work ? At work we needed
music from "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" for a skit - downloaded MIDI, burned it to
CDR with Windows Media Player.
Google MIDI yoursongname and you will find links. If you need lyrics
Google lyrics yoursongname.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up signing up for 14 free days of
Rhapsody. They had every song I needed, I can listen as often as I need to,
and, according to the agreement, I can quit after my gig, and not have to
pay a cent.

Thanks again!
