To alt.music.mp3 --
A few months ago I bought a RipFlash mp3 recorder (which I love).
Recently I bought I/O Magic's "Digital Photo Library", a combination
card reader and portable hard drive -- I was hoping to offload my
SmartMedia card (removable from the RipFlash) onto it, when I was
travelling and thus not able to upload to my PC.
However, my initial tests seem to indicate that the "Digital Photo
Library" (DPL) does not work with the RipFlash. First of all, after I
removed the SmartMedia card from the DPL, it had lost its formatting,
which was given to it by the RipFlash's PC software. Secondly, when I
hooked up the DPL to my PC with the USB connection, the MP3 file I had
supposedly read in did not show up at all in the DPL's "SmartMedia"
directory!
Phone calls to Tech Support at both IOMagic, and Pogo Products (maker
of RipFlash) did not really help ... except Pogo said that their
SmartMedia card formatting is proprietary and unique to them, and that
it might not work with many card readers.
Has anyone else out there had experiences which might shed light on my
problem? Thanks much!
