Hi,
I have an extensive collection of mp3s that I started about 15 year
ago and that has grown immensely ever since. It contains all of my cds
or parts of cds that I have ripped over the years, and that is about
20 Gb. I have never taken much time to make sure the ID3 tags were
filled in correctly. Also the album artwork (cover image) is not set
for any of the mp3s. I few months ago I received an iPod Touch as a
present from someone. It would be nice to have my mp3s tagged and
album artwork set for my mp3s for usage on the iPod. I don't want to
do this manually using some mp3 tag software because it would simply
take me too long. I don't want to rip it all again and make sure ID3
tags are filled in because it would take me too long.
Can anyone recommend some good "smart" mp3 tag software? What I'm
looking for is something that will parse all my mp3 files (I don't
care if it takes long) and use whatever info it has (filename,
foldername, some filled in ID3 tags) to determine the song and then
connects to FreeDb to set all of the ID3 tags (at least: artist,
songname, albumname, tracknumber, year and genre, more is even
greater), all of this with none or a minimum of user interaction. It
should be smart enough to detect small spelling errors to still find
the correct artist or song. Any recommendations?
Then for the album artwork (cover images). What I want to do is
automatically download and set the album artwork for as many mp3 files
as possible. I found that iTunes can do that. Since I reinstalled my
computer and installed the latest iTunes version, this doesn't work
any more (error -609) but there appears to be a solution for that (I
still have to try it): http://en.onsoftware.com/fix-itunes-...with-fixtunes/
But now I was wondering: where does iTunes get this album artwork?
What other software can automatically download and set the album
artwork (base on the artist and album title in the ID3 tags) in the
way that iTunes does, providing support for lots of albums and
providing enough quality for the covers (high enough resulotion)? Any
recommendations?
Thanks a lot in advance!
