Does anyone knows where to purchase an extra battery for the Sony
NW-HD5 player? If anyone has the item number for the United States
would be helpful..Thanks

A quick search on google shows it to be a "removable, rechargeable
lithium-ion battery", nothing proprietary about it that I can see. However,
on the off-chance it is specific to this unit, I would suggest a Sony
store, or any place that carries batteries for electronic equipment
(camera, audio outlets etc.)

When in doubt, check with the manufacturer.

Sounds easy enough..really does...but the problem is that I can't find
any of the batteries for the unit in the United States...Japan,yes

Further to my original reply:

I visited the Sony Store here (Canada) and this particular unit is not
carried in this country. I phoned Sony Canada and they suggested you call
1-888-476-6972 (U.S. toll free) for more information regarding the NW-HD5.
Be prepared for a long time on hold however - it took me 30 minutes just to
get this snippet of advice.

"Sony Customer Service" - an oxymoron if ever there was one.
