Track at once, disk at once

What's the deal w/these two options? If I burn 10 songs to cd using disk
at once then I won't be able to jump from song to song? I can only start at
the beginning and play it all the way through. Will track at once allow me
to go from track 1 to, say, track 8, as you can with a regular cd? tia jim

In article <exBKa.21206$QC5.12583@fe02.atl2.webusenet.com>,
Hello@goodbye.com says...

gives you problems, leave it there.

It has no affect on playback or even (for the most part) how the tracks
are written, and it certainly has no affect of the TOC which is what the
player uses to move around. It concerns whether the laser stays on for
the whole time (disc at once) or turns on and off for each track (track
at once) as far as I know and has been one of the biggest sources of
confusion ever since they came up with the terms.

DAO, TAO and SAO are explained here>
http://www.osta.org/technology/cdqa2.htm

Always use DAO for audio cds, using TAO for audio can cause clicks
between tracks on some CD players.

If you are burning 10 separate wavs or mp3s DAO they will appear as 10
tracks on the audio CD. Your CD burning software should allow you to
adjust the gaps between tracks when burning DAO (for example making them
zero).

Thanks Fred...I'll do some reading. I'd really like to bea able to jump
from track to track on my burned cds. Did you say it had to do w/ the space
between tracks? If I skip to the next track I get silence...the track will
play, however, if I just start at the beginning and let the whole thing play
thru...jim

Howdy,
Just read this post. May I ask, what burning software are you using?
Roxio is probably one of the better burning software for music. Nero
is pretty good and usually has the "required" space in between music.
