- WAV format too low quality for Sonic RecordNow?
- Posted by carrie.zinck@gmail.com on March 18th, 2008
I recently purchased an RCA digital voice recorder to record some
books for my daughter. I can record in two modes--low or high
quality.
When I try to add files of either quality to an audio CD layout in
Sonic Recordnow, it gives me this message:
Missing or wrong type of files
The specified file cannot be recorded for one of the following
reasons:
RecordNow! could not open the file.
The file is in use by another application.
The file has been deleted or the name or path have changed.
The file name is too long (110 characters maximum).
WAV and MP3 must be recorded as 16 bit files using a 22 or 44.1KHz
sampling rate. WMA files must be recorded using a 44.1 KHz sampling
rate.
There is a problem with the video files you are trying to burn. Please
consult your video creation software to confirm that you are creating
a properly formatted video project.
The WMA file is copy protected.
I'm assuming that the file quality is too low. Is there some way to
boost the file quality? Would converting to MP3 and back to WAV do it?
Help appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

What is the format of the file you are trying to burn. Does it play on
your computer?

Since you said they are wave I assume they are...
1. Open in Windows Sound Recorder
2. Click "File" on the toolbar
3. Click "Save as"
4. Click "Change"
5. Leave "Format" as PCM. That's wave
6. Select "Attributes" from the drop down box. The audio standard is
44,100 HZ, 16 Bit, Stereo
7. Click OK
8. Type in a file name and select where you want to save it.
9. Click "Save"
You'll be able to record 80 minutes of standard wave to an "audio" CD.

were to record in .wav it's record time would be severely limited.
Take a look at http://www.epinions.com/RCA_Digital_Voice_Recorder, this
states .mp3 is used in model shown so I don't know what the op's problem is.

He said so in the subject line.

If he has MP3s his problem is that he doesn't know up from down. He
said wave, reasonable to assume that is what he had. MP3s are a
different answer.
