No kidding! You are posting in the future, so advance would seem to be
appropriate.

Time problems

To display the current time zone settings, open a command prompt and type:

w32tm /tz

Hit the Enter key.

Windows uses the time setting to identify when files are created or
modified.

Let me add a caution here. This will rename *all* the .doc files in that
<path>. If there are any .doc files in that folder you *don't* want to
rename, you should create a folder to use for renaming. Move all 50 of the
files you want to rename there, use the command Rick describes above, then
move them back to the original folder.

I'm using XP Pro. I'd like to rename a batch of files with Windows Explorer
but can't seem to find the right procedure. Example: I have 50 files with
the extension .doc and would like to replace all these extensions with .txt.
Is there a technique to do this in Windows Explorer? Are wildcard
characters such as ? and * allowed? Thanks in advance.

I had a similar question, and found freeware on the link below. There are
several features to change names, change extensions, serialize files, sort
by a number of factor. I have been very happy with it.
