cdrom drive does not open automatically after I insert a cd
Posted by Stits on January 18th, 2008

Whenever I put in a CDROM in the drive it does not start automatically.
Even if there is a file with the name setup.exe or autorun.inf.

When I go to My Computer and open the CDROM, I can manually start the
program with setup.exe.

I have checked the following settings of the CDROM.
At properties > autoplay it sais : Prompt me each time to choose an action

In the registry I see at:
hkey_local_machine\system\current control set > service > cdrom
autorun = 1
And 1 is the correct value.

Does anyone has a suggestion?
Thanks a lot,
Marco

Hello Marco,

Take a look here:

Some of this will not apply, I'm sure, but check the Registry entries
at 3e and 4.

Luck!

Try Power Toy's Tweak UI from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx
Install, run and expand as follows: 'My Computer', 'Auto Play', 'Types',
then check/uncheck the option to enable/disable this feature for drives or
removable drives.
