The OS on my computer is XP Home.
The "Defrag" icon is present but when I try to defrag, I get the message
that the file is missing. How can I restore this tool?

Is it really missing or just in a different folder? Do a search fror
DFRG.MSC and if you find it move it to \system32 which is where it's
supposed to be. Or change the shortcut to point to where it is.

Dee, go to C:\Windows\System32 Folder. Open and Scroll down to dfrg.msc
and double click it. If it works
you can rt click on it and select SendTo Desktop create shortcut.
