My desktop has so many icons that it's difficult to find the one I
want. I do use most or all of them.

Is there a utility or proggie that allows you to design a different
style of desktop where icons can be placed in categories or columns?

You could make folders on the desk top and put the icons in them. One folder
could be called chat and you could put all you chat programs in it. Just an
example.

That would reduce the clutter. I could put my graphics programs
(Photoshop, CorelDraw, etc) in one folder and so on. Double-clicking
involved, but less clutter.

Still looking for options.

Why not right-click and select New >> Folder? Then name your folder
as usual and drag anything appropriate into it.

You can also use the supplied "wizard" to remove unused icons.
