DVD-ROM Disabled

My DVD-ROM is showing as disabled. I go to the device manager and there is a
red "X" for that drive. I roght click on the drive and the only choice I
have is to "disable". How can I enable this drive?

All ROM drives fail sooner or later. Your fastest route
might be to test this drive in another similar computer.
It it appears not serviceable there, that indicates the
drive has broken and should be replaced.
