External Hard drive problem
Posted by Padraic Nevin on October 5th, 2005

Hello

I need some help.
When I tried to connect my laptops external hard drive to my PC, it
wont show up.
I get this message

"Windows - Device Timeout.
The specified I/O operation on \Device\Harddisk2\DR17 was not completed
before the time-out period expired."

With the options "Cancel, Try Again and Continue" but I get no further.

Any Ideas?

Pat.

What interface does the external drive use?
Does the laptop have specific drivers for the external drive?
I have an external USB hard Drive using a generic ADS case, power supply,
and USB I/O that just plugs in and does it's thing on about any XP PC with a
decent USB port.
