Favorites folder gone missing
Posted by riverrat on April 26th, 2006

In trying to copy my internet favorites from the old computer to the new one,
I dropped a bunch of favorites and folders into the "Favorites" folder under
Windows\System 32\config where, I thought, there was already a "Favorites"
folder. The system didn't take the bait and, after rebooting, not only was
there still no recognition of the favorites I dropped in there, the folder
(denoted by a star icon) that was there was now missing. Yet, the favorites
that came preloaded on the drive still remain and function normally. My
questions:
1. How do I load my favorites and where do they go?
2. Any harm done and how could I restore to about 4 days ago before I made
the folder pull a disappearing act?

The Favorites on an XP system are stored in the following
location:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOURACCOUNT\Favorites.

The easiest ways to move favorites is through the File ->
Import and Export feature of Internet Explorer or the File and
Transfer Settings wizard.

Good luck
