help sharing files
Posted by John Smith on February 18th, 2006

I have 2 new computers. I've dealt with computers for longer than I can
remember. but other than having accounts, I don't know how to share files.

the 2 computers have a fresh install of winxp sp2. My sister's computer is
set up so that I see her share folders in "My Network Places". Now I am
trying to set up the other computers to do the same thing. but sharing a
folder isn't enough. a computers need privilege to gain access to the system
with the shares. How does one configure the system so others can connect to
any share folders? It's basically the one thing I could never figure out.

Thanks!

Take a look at the following article:

Windows XP Professional File Sharing:

The URL will take you to the page about file sharing with XP Pro. If XP
Home is involved, there is a link in the introductory paragraph that will
take you the sharing article for XP Home.
