How does one have a look at the modem init string in XP Is viewing
the modem long the onoly way to see it?

tab or the like with a button where you can query the modem. That will
show you the init string for your particular modem. You'll need to look
around in the applet - I'm sorry I can't give you the exact place to
look but none of my computers has a modem installed.
