I do not have a modem installed on my computer, yet on every startup I get a
message select a country. this remains until I click on the country, other
it will not open my windows. Is there a way to remove this annoying drop
down every time I start my computer?
Thank you , catrambo

How do you know a modem is causing message?
Why do you reference HSP 56 modem?

the reason is that no modem is listed in device manager nor in the control
panel. reference to HSP56 modem because it is mentioned at he top of the
drop box .

Was this modem ever installed on this computer? When was it removed?
Did you install different modem?
What mail program are you using?
Is it possible that it is looking for "internet connection" with a dialup
that used this modem?
Is there a modem icon in your system tray? lower left bottom of screen
Please "post" what programs are in your "Program Startup folder"!!!
Are you comfortable with editing "Registry"???
