Hi everybody,
I need your help. I got the blue screen. It said something about
system files. Now, the computer does not work. It goes into some
kind of cycle. It goes through all the booting procedures, until it
comes to a black screen which asks something like this: if you want
to start window in the normal mode, safe mode, safe mode with command
line, safe mode without net word or recover to the best last
configuration. During this, there is a count down from; I think 29
to 0 and all start again. Can someone help? I do not want to lose my
programs and files.
I also got the following:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.
..
..
The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI complaint. Please contact your
system vendor or visit www.hardware-update.com for an updated BIOS. If you
are unable to obtain an updated BIOS or the latest BIOS supplied by your
vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode
setup. To do this, simply, press F7 key when you are prompted to install
storage drivers. The system will not notify you that F7 key was pressed- it
will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation

You must have done something to induce the blue screen! Anyway, next time
you boot up and get the same message, select 'Use Last Known Good
Configuration' to get going again.
Good luck.

Is your computer and HP or Compaq with an AMD processor. If so, maybe SP3
was installed. Boot in Safe mode and uninstall SP3.

Best re-post from the beginning in an advanced group.
Microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support. You'll get help there.
