manaed to delete all files for ipod and itunes but when i installed from the
disc received with ipod it gets right to the end of the installation and then
message:
gcasServ??? i don't get a chance to read the rest as my computer logs off.
When it reboots the itunes logo is on my desktop but when i click on it
nothing happens and a error report comes up and i send it to microsoft end of
story. Please please help me as I bought this ipod for my husband for
Christmas and want to be able to transfer all his cd's to it before
Christmas. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me.

First off, do the following in order to see the entire error
message:
Go to Start -> Control Panel and double click on System.
Click on the Advanced tab.
On the Advanced page, click on the Settings button in the
Startup and Recovery section.
Remove the check mark from the box next to "Automtically
restart".
Click OK twice.
Now, if you encounter the same problem, you should be able to
record all the information posted in the error notice.
You can also look in Event Viewer (Start -> Run and enter
eventvwr.msc in the Open box, click OK). Look under Application
and System for any events associated with this problem. You may
find some clue as to what went wrong.
I'm not familiar enough with the program to give you specifics
but I do know that gcasServ is a service associated with the
Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta program. I'd suggest shutting down
this program and all associated services before trying to
install itunes.
Also, have you sought out any assistance from Apple's tech
support? They may be familiar with the problems you're having.
Good luck

Why not go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and download iTunes
6 from Apples site. It may work better.

Rick,
Thank you for your answer but have tried this and this does exactly the same
thing. Have problems deleting through add/remove programmes and have to go
through explore and delete it from the programme menu there. I have managed
to download it on a laptop so i will have to copy my music on to the laptop
and go from there. I have given up with my pc as I have deleted it
rebooted, downloaded it about 6 times and to no avail. There is obviously
some problem in the internal workings of my pc but do not know enough to sort
it (very frustrating). If anyone has any ideas I would be delighted to
receive them.
