Limited user access to network printer
Posted by rickyd on October 8th, 2005

I have an HP 2610 connected to an Ethernet port on my LinkSys Router with a
reserved IP address. From my desktop I can print if I'm logged in via an
Administrative level account. My kids accounts are set up as Limited Users so
they don't mess with the system, but they can't print to the printer. If I
change their account to administrative level I can print, but setting it back
to limited I lose print ability.

I have two laptop's that I connect through the wireless port of the router
and both of these PC's can print. One is running XP Home, the other Win 2000.

I'd rather not give them full access rights. Any suggestions?

Hi Rickyd,

Try changing permissions on this folder:

C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers

Make sure 'everyone' has read & execute permissions.
