Microsoft Installer Starts at Certain Websites!
Posted by Dovie on November 10th, 2005

When I go to certain websites, I start getting messages that Microsoft
Installer and Word 2000 is trying to install. I then have to click Cancel 2
or 3 times to stop it. So
far it happens on one or two news websites. What kind of a bug is that? What
is the problem involved? Thanks ahead of time for assistance and insights.

I have done a spyware scan twice, and the problem with those websites still
exists. It must have something to do with the popup ad that says:
z1.adserver.com/w/cp.x

Thank you. I see that this involves uninstalling Office, etc. etc. I hate
playing with these kinds of things. Is there any "shortcut" to fixing this
problem, and why does it arise only with that popup ad window on 2 or 3
websites? Why don't the popup killer programs catch it? Thanks.

Although I have now run Spyware Doctor, Error Doctor and Noadware, the
Fastclick window comes up blank because of Spyware Doctor, HOWEVER, the
launching of Word 2000 installation STILL continues until I click Cancel!!

I'm having the same problem. Hope someone comes up with a fix. It's
driving me nuts.

I was in touch with the company called Fast Click. I spoke to someone there
who said he is aware of our problem since last week, and it should be solved
by tomorrow.

Problem is.........it wasn't solved yet today! I called again. I strongly
suggest people phone the number appearing on the www.fastclick.com website to
get this annoyance ended once and for all!
