NMIndexStoreSrv.exe takes over
Posted by Pat Clough on June 30th, 2008

Hi folks, please help-
NMIndexStoreSrv.exe has suddenly started to burst into life at random but
frequent intervals. While its running my XP pro based machine becomes
unusable. A response to a click can take 30 seconds or more.
Task manager says that it is running at 99% !!
When it stops, the computer is fine.
I have found that NMIndexStoreSrv.exe is part of Nero, which I use very
occasionally.
How do I repair it, delete it or get it under control?

TIA

Health, Wealth and Happiness

Pat.

This is something plenty of people have experienced and there's plenty of
info out there - try Google and drill down through the forums for focussed
guides. Also make sure you spell it correctly ("NMIndexStoreSrv" or
"NMIndexStoreSvr"). Yes, it is Nero-related. If I remember correctly it's to
do with Nero Scout, and can be stopped as a service and/or through Nero's
interface somewhere.

It installed when you installed the Nero software suite.
Configure it to NOT start on Windows startup.
Then reboot (or kill the process).

Oh goodie, another NNTP provider that spamifies every post sent through
it, and without even the consideration to put their spam crap in the
signature (i.e., after the sigdash line). Do you really intend to spam
the newsgroups?

Go to Control Panel->Administrative tools->Services and scroll down to it.
Double click and set it to Disabled.
