- Please help! Login & Desktop Locked!
- Posted by amerar@iwc.net on March 3rd, 2006
Hi All,
Very strange happening on my XP box. This started yesterday.
When I boot and the initial screen comes up with the user icons which
you click on to get a password prompt, clocking on the username does
nothing. Once I hit CTL-ALT-DEL I get a similar password box that you
get when you are using Remote Desktop.
Additionally, all my icons on me desktop are frozen, I cannot move
them. My drag & drop does not work, and, my page up & page down keys
stopped working also.
This is REAL annoying! Any suggestions?
Thanks

Thier is a xp hotfix for login, but is really for time,to login. You might
try it,
start computer by tapping the F8 key, select safe mode with networking, enter
xp as administrator. The hotfix goes to youre e-mail via microsoft. Its #887186
or #885835
Either way,also chk system properties,advanced,start
up/recovery,settings.In the
OS box,the last words should be "fast detect" If more is added, change
button,
carefully delete the other, close out restart computer..

You are complaining to the wrong person, It is Andrew E that doesn't know
how to include the links.
