- Service pack 2?
- Posted by Xeno Chauvin on October 17th, 2005
For months now my auto update has been telling me
to update to SP2 on my XP.
So today I took the plunge and told it to do it. PROBLEM
it didn't do it. I went to the MS site and asked what
"Updates" I needed but the site did not tell me I needed SP2.
When I check my about ,after restarting,it says I only have SP1.
Was(is) there a time limit on how long and when
you could upgrade to SP2?
Thanks
Xeno

I obtained the CD and installed SP2 from it. Yes, when I checked the update
site, it didn't mention SP2.

You can try via updated update service from here - or you can order the SP2
CD - only pay postage or it might be free.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx
Recommended (slipstraming) is to download from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
It's a 272MB download.

There is no time limit on how long and when you can upgrade to SP2. I don't
know what you mean by checking my about after restarting, right click on My
Computer, click properties and the General tab will tell you what level xp
you have installed.
