- unmountable boot volume
- Posted by kyleJr on October 8th, 2005
my computer locked up. I unpluged it from the power supply, started the
computer but reached the error:
stop 0x000000ED
(0x8131BAF8,0xC0000006,0x00000000,0x00000000)
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
I rebooted with no luck
I rebooted using the xp cd (pro)
I ran the recovery console
bootcfg ran into an error, and needed chkdsk to run
chkdsk =the volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems.
C:\>dir =an error occured during directory enumeration
I am running xp home sp1

Hi,

Not good, generally unrecoverable. You might try something like testdisk
from cgsecurity.org to help, but many times this is not a recoverable error.
The partition may need to be removed and rebuilt.

Did you try the command:
CHKDSK C: /R
from the Recovery Console? That is your one best chance of fixing
this problem.
Good luck
