- Posted by post.epatra@gmail.com on March 13th, 2006
The Error is "The product key used to install MS Windows may not be
valid"
I've pirated WinXP but I wanna install WinXP SP2 through Microsoft
site.
I downloaded "Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package
for IT Professionals and Developers" from Microsoft Site.
The site mentione's that even not registered copy of WinXp can get SP2,
I went ahead
with this download. But after I try install it, the error is flashed.
Do I've ne other workaround to protect my PC other than this SP2 get
installed.
Following are securtiy protections on my PC(Home):
1.Norton Antivirus 2005(Updated)
2.Downloaded Microsoft other updated excecpt SP2.
3.SpyBot
4.WinXp Firewall is enabled.
5. LavaSoft Adaware
6.Thinking over to install ZoneAlarm
Few days back my PC had been infected by internet Worm Sasser.(Though
all above measures were already taken before this worm attacked.)
To tackle this I formated my PC and installed Norton Antivirus with all
above measures but yet to install ZoneAlarm.
Thanks for reading suggestin' ne help around in advance.
Any pointer is highly appericited.

Hi,
In order to install SP2, you need to get a legitimate copy of WinXP with a
valid Product Key and use it to do a repair installation. In fact, most of
the versions found now (both retail and generic OEM) include SP2, so getting
one should resolve your problems. A repair installation will preserve user
accounts, settings, and programs.
