doing something then told me I had the wron disc in It said I need to

In order to answer your query, I'll need a bit of information about your
PC hardware...Please forgive the simple questions but you will see why they
are important:

Do you have a DVD Writer? - These are capable of writing to both DVD's and
CD's
Do you have two writers i.e. separate CD and DVD writers - Perhaps Nero has
'seen ' the CD Writer but not the DVD Writer. There may be a pull-down menu
where you select one or the other.

Assuming that you have a single DVD Writer and you are attempting to
copy a commercial DVD movie - it is likely that the movie disk will not fit
on a blank DVD (R). You have to use free software called 'DVD shrink'. This
allows you to extract just the movie from the comercial disk, write it to
the hard disk and then using Nero (recognised by 'DVD Shrink'), this is
written to the blank DVD(R). Alternatively, you can use 'DVDdecrypt'
together with 'DVD Shrink' and /or perhaps a trial version of 'DVD Clone' to
copy and compress the entire DVD Movie disk.

Ask at 'alt.comp.freeware' for a better description of the methods.

thanks Bob I did use DVDShrink and managed to successfully copy a
commercial dvd. What I really want to do is download movies from the
net and burn a DVD. I am having all kinds of trouble with it telling me
that a 700mb movie won't fit on a 4.7GB disc. My trouble is that when I
do get something to work I have already troied so many things I can't
remember what worked. LOL
