I installed a brand new Plextor PX-716A into a friends Windows XP SP2
machine.

In DVD Shrink, when I go to backup, it pre-anaylyzes the DVD fine, but when
I choose to do a backup, I get a dialouge box that says:

DVDShrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Copy protection error.
The request could not be perfromed because of an I/O device *error.


I tried downloading DVD decryptor and using that option with DVD Shrink, but
still get the same error...

Any ideas?

I have had a few instances where this happened. I have found that
"SmartRipper" will decode when DVD Shrink will not. You can probably
find a download with a simple search. I think you may need to state
that you are not a U.S. resident.

Make an image file first then read that file with DEAMON tools
( it solves the protection ) then copy with Nero to a DVD

Even better the smartripper is CloneDVD & AnyDVD. Make sure AnyDVD is
running along with CloneDVD, and you will not encounter any errors. It's
wonderful!
