Hello;
I have a Toshiba RD-XS34 HDD/DVD video recorder, with a hard drive that
has become corrupt. Is there any way to repair it, or recover the data?
The hard drive was nearly full (half an hour free space) and I deleted an
hour show just before a scheduled hour recording started, then I switched
to watching a DVD-R. When the recording was over a message was displayed
to that effect, so I stopped the DVD, and hit the 'HDD' button to switch
to the hard drive so I could delete a few more things.
At this point an error message came up saying the hard drive was corrupt,
and should be reformatted. The Content Menu is empty, though 'Remain'
still shows only a half hour free space. Recordings are listed in the
Library, though trying to play anything gives an error that the disk is
not loaded.
The hard drive became corrupt once before, but there was not a lot on it
at the time, so I just reformatted. IIRC I was editing a recording
(in-progress) to change the end time when it happened.
