The cost of DVD-RW discs?
Posted by Brian on January 15th, 2005

Out of interest how much do DVD-RW discs cost in other parts of the
world and is the price dropping? In New Zealand they are between $2
and $5 each depending on the brand.

Again, your either pulling our legs, which I think is the case. If
not, then you must be located in a very remote place. If neither is

immigration might be the solution.

No i'm not pulling your leg.

The last DVD-RW discs I brought were Sony 2X and they were discounted
down to $2.50 each.

In New Zealand
The average wage is about $35,000.
For those working in shops $10 to $13 per hour. 8 hours a day.

A recent relased DVD movie sells for $39

10 pack of TDK 4x DVD-RW AUD$30 from BigW in Australia about a month
ago, so maybe even cheaper now. Was buying single 2x DVD-RW (Fuji and
TDK) for AUD$5.20 each before that.

Have been getting better value from bulk pack 50 Ritek 4x DVD+RW for
AUD$75 recently.

In packs of five in the big cases (like commercial DVDs come in) branded
ones (I bought Verbatim) can be had for about a pound each.

The cheapest from a regular store that I've seen recently is £7.49 for
10 (with Xtal case) from PC World (the Dixons superstore).

They have spindles of own-brand DVD+RW at £17.99 for 25, but don't seem
to have spindles of the DVD-RW.

I can't see tubs of 25 DVD-RW there, and bizarrely the cheapest DVD-RW
is single Verbatim in jewel case at £0.90

It's good when you can get blank DVD discs in spindles as I perfer to
put them in slim cases so they take up less room.

I've seen a pack of 25 DVD-R's being sold for $25

Have you even taken into account the exchange rate between NZ$ and what you
are comparing it to (probably US$)? One US$ does not equal one NZ$.
