Dont do it: 100 Hi-Space DVD-R for 20UKP at Amazon Co uk

For anyone thinking of buying these ... dont.

1. When shipped there is about a one inch gap inside the top of the
spindle allowing them to rattle around loosely. When they arrived 5 of
the discs at the top had a lot of damage at the circumference which I
suspect was due to this. At least 5 more had "slight" visible damage.

2. They dont even ship with the clear plastic protector discs for the
top and bottom discs.

3. They Id as CMC MAG AF1. Same as the Bulkpaq Tangos now selling at
7.48 for 40 at svp. but I suspect the Hi-Space are much lower build
quality because ...

4. They look like a jam sandwich with too much jam. You can see lots of
the glue (or whatever it is) squeezed out between the two layers. I dont
know what this means in real terms but its the most uneven looking stack
of discs I've ever seen - ever.

5. I did two kprobe scans on discs from the middle of the stack. One
returned 32 hard errors (not PI or PIF but presumably uncorrectable)
Until then discs I've scanned usually had 0 or at most 4 errors). The
second disc bascially returned over 3000 hard errors and was only32%
complete before I cancelled it.

I've RMA'd them to Amazon and will not buy anything less than Datawrite
Grey (obviously there are much better discs around too). Back to SVP for
me!

I'm double peeved because I had to collect them from the courier (DHL)
which was over a 2h round trip.

I've read somewhere that Hi-Space make their own DVD+R and outsource the
DVD-R. But I've lost interest!
