DVD Recorders?
Posted by Mickey Knox on September 14th, 2003

Guys,

I am looking to purchase a DVD recorder. Can you offer any advise on what to
look for and what features to have? I know there are different types of
recordable DVDs (DVD-R DVD-RW plus and minus DVD-RAM etc....what is the
difference?). How many minutes do these DVDs allow on one DVD? I am looking
to transfer old VHS football games that are about 3 hours long, will they
fit on one DVD?

Thanks for your input.

Panny recorders burn to dvd-r and dvd-ram. Panny recorders are the
only ons I know about that do time slip.

I often do burn of 2 to 3 hours on the thing. Comes out very good.
Very impressed with mine.

You may want to look at the dmre100 which has a hard drive. This will
allow you to record to the hard drive and whack 30 odd hours of sp (sp
quality is very good quality) quality video onto the hard drive then
your able to burn back using 4x media. Easy to chop out the ads with
models that have hard drives.

not sure what the e100 models are like but can say that the e80 and
e30 are both good recorders. Some I know have the e50 and are just as
happy with these.

If your in the uk have a look at the averland site.
http://www.avland.co.uk/panasonic/dmre100/index.htm

If your based in australia look at the salesmart site.
http://www.salesmart.com.au/dvdplayers/

If your in the us - not listed on the panny us web site so not sure if
thet are available in the good old usa yet.

These are out in Germany.
Go to panasonic.com and click on the germany link to find a store that
sell sthem over there.

Depends which country your in though.
In oz footy means either rugby or afl which does go for 3 hours.
Usually starts at 12 midday and goes through to 3m. This includes
after game interviews and intervals between quarters.

In the us footy is nfl.
