- How to copy part of a DVDR
- Posted by on April 1st, 2008
I have a DVD+RW made on my Lite-On stand-alone recorder. It contains 2
movies, each 2 hours long. Because of the 4 hour length, I used the EP
speed. What I'd like to do is copy just the second movie onto a new DVD+R,
using the regular SP speed, such that I can put it in any DVD player and
have it play properly, just as the original did.
It seems as though it should be possible to do this on the fly, since my
computer has 2 DVD drives, but I'll be darned if I can figure out how. I
have a plethora of burning programs, but I can't figure out how to do this.
Can anyone give me a suggestion?
Some, but not all the freeware I have is:
Nero Express
MyDVD
Burnaware
Burn4free
Ashampoo
RipIt4Me
Amerisoft DVD Ripper
Alcohol 52%
Video DVD Maker
ImgBurn
AVS Disc Creator
FinalBurner
DVD Fab HD
Burrrn
Avi2DVD
When I load the DVD+RW into my computer, the TOC has 2 files: VIDEO_RM and
VIDEO_TS. I don't know what these terms mean. That'll give you some idea
of my nerd status. :-)
Would somebody please help me.
Thanks,
Norm Strong

If you can get a copy of CloneDVD2 I think that will allow you to pick and
choose what you want to copy ans what you want to skip.
They may have a trial version available but it might have limitations.
Good luck

You can use Re-Author mode in DVD Shrink. It is part of your RipIt4Me

Here's the link to DVD Shrink (it's freeware (depending upon where
it's downloaded)):
http://www.esnips.com/doc/94d1e209-4...6-5669621bd9c3
I went onto YouTube and typed in "DVD Shrink" and saw a bunch of
homemade tutorials for it that people made by putting their camcorders
up to their computer screens.
Plus there's this here tutorial I used:
http://www.dvdshrink.info/fulldisk_basic.php
From what I've read, DVD Shrink removes copy protection also.

Inside VIDEO_TS are .VOB files (ignore all the other files).
You can use the Womble MPEG Video Wizard free for 30 days and it
will let you select the parts you want to keep and output the
files needed to build a new DVD.

Surely there's some freeware that will do this?
