- labels to stick on DVDs
- Posted by Gary Lightfoot on July 14th, 2003
You can get labels to stick on CDs, so can you do the same thing for
DVDs?
I tried one and it played fine, but I was wondering if there's a
reason not to do it.
Could the heat a DVD player produces cause the label to unstick inside
the player maybe?
Gary.

If you do it do it after the burn. Do it before the burn and your dvd
burner may not like it.
The players I have don't get warm or hot so stay at room tempature so
its not a problem for me not that I'd use labels when we use epson 900
or the bravo printers to print directly onto the media.

I did it after burning, so I guess that's why it was OK. I only did it
after just in case it didn't burn correctly.
The media printers I saw could only print one colour. Got any links
for those? I'll checkout the epson 900.
Cheers.
Gary.

Most of the monochrome media printers are thermal. The epson series uses
inkjet full color, but requires
inkjet compatible DVDs.....

PS
I have found labels on DVD recordables to be a very unreliable solution with
a majority of players (and I have many)...but others
will argue they have never had a problem.

I tend to stay away from putting labels on my DVDs....I've never had a
problem on my own standalone DVD player, but the same disks that play fine
on my machine with labels tend to freeze up on my bud's player. After
carefully peeling the disk off, it would then play fine. So it's Sharpies
for me...
