- Nero QuickErase vs FullErase
- Posted by JPG on January 8th, 2004
Nero offers QuickErase of RW as well as FullErase.
I assume quick erase removes the filename(s), or otherwise makes the file(s)
unusable, thereby enabling overwriting of the disk.
Full erase (I guess) fills up the disk with 0s (or 1s).
In terms of increasing disk life, would it be the consensus among the
contributors that quick erase stresses the disk less and therefore the disk
should last longer.
The only disadvantage with quick erase that I can think of is the loss of
security (not a problem for most people) and the fact that you can't tell how
much of the disk has been recorded on by looking at the playing surface.

I really wouldn't worry either way. The disc fails when the most used area
reaches its end of life, and that's the area that is erased in a quick or
full erase and is always written to when you burn.
