Panasonic DMR-E50 stop recording after 2 minutes
Posted by torris@mindspring.com on December 28th, 2005

Using Panasonic DMR-E50 recorder; Using Maxell DVD-R 8x.

Have had no problems doing "recording on the fly" until now. I used to
be able to record from my Tivo (Input Select - L1) then choose (Rec
Mode - EP) and hit the Rec button until OFF 1:00 shows. Star play on
the Tivo unit

Now after two minutes the disk shuts off I get a "Bye" comment and then
a RECOVER message.

Based on previous suggestions with this unit, I tried to give the disk
a title in the menu and tried to record a short section (15 seconds)
and then erase it. Neither problem did the trick and I haven't been
able to burning any disks.

Any suggestions or firmware upgrades to conquer this problem? Panasonic
was useless in their help

TIA

I've seen that before on my E50, it's always
been media related.

**Well, one thing to try would be using a different brand disc. My e85
did that when I started using some newly-bought, made-in-Taiwan TDK
discs. I tried another one and it did the same thing, after recording
for a minute it would stop, say bye then recover. I took those back to
Target, bought some Sonys (made in Japan) and I haven't had the
problem since. I try to only use discs that were made in Japan.

happens to most Panny users at some stage, you are using a shit disc, its
ok, just buy a better one.

When it gets to the point where it does that with Panasonic RAM discs make
sure you finalized all your discs cause your machine may be dead soon.
