Pioneer 106 software?
Posted by Andrew H on July 14th, 2003

Hi,

Just ordered a Pioneer 106 OEM with no software.

I am currently using Easy CD Creator 5 platinum (5.3.1.154.sp4) with a
Goldstar 8080B CD-R. Have many CD-RW on the go having used DIRECT CD.

Having read through many posts here, NERO seems favourable, and I have
considered waiting for new release v6 available on download later this week.
Having a look at v 5.5.82 at moment but dont want to load INCD as I
remember what happened last time I had more than one packet-writing software
on.

Will either of these old versions recognise Pioneer 106? Is this necessary
for writing DVD/CDs, what I mean is, even if they dont know writer is a 106,
will they still see it as a generic writer and be ok.

I am covered with Video software, so what do I really need? I see VOB (same
as Pinnacle?) INSTANT software is often included. Can I make do with what
i've got (Nero 5.5 OEM is offered for £5 when I ordered) or should I
upgrade my Easy Cd CReator to version 6, or wait for NERO 6?

Wher do I stand with different packet-writing s'ware? Should I stick with
DIRECT CD or is it ok to switch to INSTANT or NEROs versions while I still
have many Digital Photo compilations half filled?

hi Andrew
Are you in the UK? May I ask how much you paid for your Pioneer 106 and from
where you bought it?
Thanks
Fred

Why don't you go to www.roxio.com and download the 5.3.5 update
and the drive update, released July 3, and give it a go?

Fish,

I had previously tried Easy cd5 updates and they kept failing. This time
tried drive update first (against instructions), then 5.3.5, then drive
again and it appears to have worked.

I was looking at Nero for DVDR/W burning as many in this forum trust it for
DVD burning without problems. Very little is said about Easy CD Creater. Are
there many Pioner 106/5/4/3 owners out there happy with Easy CD?

I also had used an old Nero for CD compilation after some crackle problems
with EASY CD and it appeared faultless. Seemed to have more options as well.

But I have a purchased copy of CD Creater 5, and am pleased they are still
supporting it, despite version 6 being their current product. Awaiting
delivery of A106 so cannot test at moment.
