- Pioneer DVD -RW A05 only writes 1X to -R
- Posted by rlassiter@shaw.ca on June 28th, 2003
Nero only gives me the option of burning a DVD at 1X when the drive
supports up to 4X with -R. I have a 2X blank DVD in the drive.
Firmware is 1.30. I run XP and it supplied the drivers.
How can I get it detected at the correct write speed?

It's the media.
The Princo 4X works great in that drive!

Use the hacked firmware, it's not the media as the other poster said but
Pioneer trying to make us buy expensive media hence deciding we should only
write at 1x with some 2x media.
Get hacked firmware from the link below and you won't have anymore problems.

Yes have to second that. Princo 4x all the way.
There is a brand called General 2x made in Singapore which claims to
be 2x but is only 1x media.

This is not a good idea. Writing 2x with shoddy media will often
result in unplayable disk especially if more than 3.7 gb is written on
that disk.
