Pioneer DVR-S606 Buffer Underrun Protection???
Posted by Rusty Lloyd on January 22nd, 2004

So far, I have found nothing that states that the Pioneer external DVR-S606
has any "hardware" buffer underrun protection (except through software
bit-rate throttling). I know this is just the A06 made external, but I
can't find if that has "hardware" buffer underrun protection, either. Can
any of you enlighten me?

I really want to get a (external) burner, soon, but am getting more and
more confused. The Pioneer seems to have the best compatibility rating,
although not as fast as say the Plextor or Sony (speed not too much of a
concern), which seems to have a bit more compatibility problems with the
media and transfering burned DVD to watch on standalone table-top players.

Thanks in advance,
RUSTY

I should problably note that I have a Dell Dimension 8250, with 256MB
RDRAM (yeah, the expensive RAM).

Thanks in advance,

Well the 106/A06 (internal) does have buffer underrun protection and as
its a feature of the drive firmware I would be very suprised if the
external version didnt support it.
