problems recording to Panasonic DMR ES40V
Posted by Rick Kovalcik on October 7th, 2007

Well, I've finally decided to (try to) join the 21st century and start
recording TV shows (for timeslip) to DVD rather than VHS.

I'm using a Panasonic DMR ES40V. It should record 2 hours in SP mode
and 4 hours in LP mode etc.

The first time I tried to record 2 programs of 1 hour each in SP mode,
it recorded the first and put an "!" in the status field on the
schedule screen for the second. The next time I tried 4 programs: 3
in LP, and 1 in EP. It recorded the first two but not the last two
and once again put an "!" in the status field on the schedule
screen. Even if the disk really isn't 2 (SP) / 4 (LP) hours long, I
would have thought the second try should have worked or at least
recorded 3 programs. IIIRC, I'm using Memorex 16x DVD-R if it makes
any difference. (They work find in the computers burners I have.)

Anyone have any ideas?

I can't recall how my own one of these machines worked as I hardly
used it for dubbing, but if you don't get an answer here you could try

alt.video.dvd.tech
rec.video.dvd.misc
rec.video.dvd.tech

You could also consider taking a look at avforums, but I think you
have to join to post there.
