- question about burnt disks freezing
- Posted by Reg on October 23rd, 2007
Just wondering why a burnt dvd plays for a couple of minutes then freezes.
If you restart it, it will freeze again but in a different spot, sometimes
playing again for a while then refreezing. I've tried different players and
the same thing happens. Is this a sign of trouble with the dvd burner? I've
tried a couple of different DVD-R makes.
Thanks

Could be a number of things but firstly, are you sure you're using the
right speed of disc for your burner and secondly have you tried
burning at a slower speed?

Using verbatim and TDK disks 1 to 16x burning speed but I only burn at 2x.
It seems to happen every time I burn something now, use to have this problem
only occasionally in the past.

Off the top of my head its probably 3 or 4 years old, thats what I was
wondering if it was showing the first signs of a problem and maybe I should
replace it.

Well prices have dropped a lot, the spec of what you can buy now is
probably way better. I don't know how many formats or speeds your
current one burns to but I think most now burn to all available DVD
discs including DVD-RAM, then they may have lightscribe or something
thrown in too.
Personally I'd go for a replacement.
