I've had this unit about 2 months, and love it, too, except for a few things
that annoy me ...

1) The screen layout for titling is ridiculous! They have important
symbols, like the apostrophe, on a SEPERATE screen. The apostrophe is an
important part of many words, it should be included in the text screens, as
should all the standard punctuation. Also, the layout is very cumbersome.
My hand gets quite a workout when writing the titles. (Actually, my thumb
does) Using the number pad is harder, because you have to keep looking down
at the remote and back at the screen to make sure you're getting the right
letters, and you have to use the joystick anyway if you need to type the
same letter twice (or a letter that is on the same key you just pressed). I
also think that when go to the title screen for each individual video, it
should be on the CLEAR button by default, and should ask for confirmation
when hitting CLEAR after you create your own title. It's also dumb to put
the CLEAR and SPACE buttons near each other.

2) It takes forever to load disc info when you insert a partially recorded
disc, or turn the unit on with a partially recorded disc already inserted.

3) Why does it take so long to write info to the disc? What is it writing
anyway? Doesn't it write to the disc as you record? When pressing REC
STOP, it shouldn't take so long to finish writing data.

4) One of the MOST annoying things is finalizing a -R disc. It gives you a
warning that it needs five minutes, and it's not kidding! Why does it take
5 whole minutes to finalize a disc? It takes a mere few seconds to finalize
a DVD on the PC.

5) Also annoying is that you have to format a +RW disc before you can use
it. Why? You can only record in the regular way with a +RW. I can see
having to format a -RW, because you can choose a regular Video DVD or a DVR
disc which can be "edited".

6) I also find it impossible to finalize a +RW disc. It says it isn't
necessary, but recordings can be accidentally erased, or the disc
accidentally formatted if you're not paying attention to what you're doing.
You can "protect" the individual titles, but that doesn't protect them when
the disc is formatted.

Overall, I do like this machine. I use it every day, and it's helped me get
my collection of "The Nanny" on DVD. I am starting my 25th disc of "The
Nanny". (I know, I NEED to get a life!)
